Dan Carey

Director/Chairman

Dan Carey is the President, Founder and CEO of VISIONBank. He has a lengthy career in commercial lending and bank management, and has served as a director for several local organizations. He provides key leadership as a Trustee for the Alex Stern Family Foundation, which co-hosts Giving Hearts Day with Dakota Medical Foundation and Impact Foundation. The Alex Stern Family Foundation was founded in 1977, and has provided more than $14 million in funding to Fargo-Moorhead nonprofits serving the arts, human services, education, youth, civic projects and health.

Phil Hansen

Phil Hansen is a business owner and retired from the NFL. Before joining the Buffalo Bills, where he won three AFC championships, Phil set many records for the NDSU Bison and won three Division II national championships. In addition to owning and operating his own landscaping business, Phil works as a color analyst for NDSU Bison football. He is also an ambassador and master trainer for the NFL's Heads Up football program, an initiative to help make safety a priority in youth football across America. Phil is an active community servant and philanthropist. He was instrumental in establishing a physical activity program for children of all abilities in his home community of Detroit Lakes, Minn.

Susan Mathison, MD

Dr. Susan Mathison is the founder of Catalyst Medical Center and Clinical Spa in Fargo. She specializes in otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat), head and neck surgery, and facial plastic surgery. She also provides treatment for allergies, sleep disorders and skin care. She serves on the board of directors for numerous nonprofit organizations, including Dakota Medical Foundation. She is a vital community leader and brought TEDx, TEDx Women and Women’s Start-Up Weekend to Fargo to raise the dialog on innovation and entrepreneurism. She draws a large following to her newspaper column and blog to inspire greater wellness.

J. Patrick Traynor

Executive Director, Ex Officio, Non-voting

Pat Traynor is the President of Dakota Medical Foundation, and in 2005 led the establishment of Impact Foundation. He holds degrees in economics and law, and serves on the boards of Gate City Bank and the North Dakota Safety Council, and as a volunteer for Ducks Unlimited and the University of North Dakota Campaign Steering Committee.
